The State’s Attorney’s office has announced that Randy Dindlebeck, a Maryland man, has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually abusing a minor. State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling made the announcement, stating that Dindlebeck, 28, from Mechanicsville, has been given a 75-year sentence, with 24 years of active incarceration, for felony sexual abuse of a minor and associated offenses.
In May 2023, Dindlebeck was convicted by a St. Mary’s County jury after a three-day trial, where he was found guilty of a series of sexual abuses against the same child that occurred between July and September 2021.
During the sentencing hearing, the victim’s mother requested the maximum penalty of 75 years for Dindlebeck. State prosecutors supported and reiterated her request for the maximum sentence, citing Dindlebeck’s “breach of trust and exploitation of his position” and the extremely grave nature of the offenses he committed.
Dindlebeck received the following sentences for each charge:
- Count 1, Sex Abuse of a Minor: 25 years, with 15 years to be served.
- Count 2, Sex Offense Third Degree: 10 years, with 3 years to be served.
- Count 3, Sex Offense Third Degree: 10 years, with 3 years to be served.
- Count 4, Sex Offense Third Degree: 10 years, with 3 years to be served.
- Count 5, Sex Offense Third Degree: 10 years, with a suspended sentence.
- Count 6, Sex Offense Third Degree: 10 years, with a suspended sentence.
Each of these sentences was ordered to run consecutively, resulting in a total prison sentence of 75 years, with 24 years of active incarceration. Additionally, Dindlebeck will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
